My Week 2 look for Ms. Paint’s Art Race! The challenge was to create a look inspired by an insect of your choice and I picked greta oto, also known as the glasswing butterfly.

Since butterflies in fashion are pretty common, I wanted to come up with an unconventional take on the conventional insect. I’ve had this swooping jacket silhouette on my mind that I realized would be perfect as butterfly wings, and the glasswing’s signature transparent wings help make the jacket less heavy and more interesting. The bodysuit is reminiscent of the butterfly’s body and is meant to be a complement to the statement jacket rather than taking away from it, so I kept it on the minimal side while still being fashionable on its own.⠀

My Week 1 lipsync look for Ms. Paint’s Art Race, for the song “Worship Me” by Lizzo. It’s a tribute to the first eliminated queen in Season 1, Cult Baby (aka true icon and goddess), but I decided to turn her look into a jumpsuit to fit the more powerful and soulful vibe of the song.⠀

My Week 1 look for

Ms. Paint’s Art Race! The challenge was to create a look inspired by a god or goddess of your choice and I picked Iris, goddess of the rainbow.

As Ira’s indirect namesake (she’s the origin of the word “iridescence”), I couldn’t not pick her. She traverses the sky on her golden wings, her colors beautifully muted by the dress of white clouds – though often you can catch a glimpse of the bright rainbow underneath. Her ultraviolet hair and eyes represent the iris flower she would eventually give her name to. My goal was to not only to create a look inspired by a goddess, but to create a look fit for a goddess as well.
